Bye Bye Thomas

As many of you remember (if not, see Carter's party for the pictures) Thomas had taken up residence in our garage. Carter would walk by Thomas without even looking at him so we figured we would be ok to get rid of him...plus Daddy was itching to get the truck back in the garage again so he was anxiously awaiting for recycle day to come! Carter was doing pretty good with the fact that Thomas needed to go and "George" was going to come and pick him up. George is the host in one of our favorite movies, "Where the Garbage Goes" so he was excited that George was going to watch over Thomas. He sat all morning in front of the door waiting for the truck to show up. When he came we rushed outside to watch him get loaded up. As you can see, he was waving to the driver and all seemed to be going well...until they hoisted the canister up into the truck with his Thomas. :( If we would have known he would have been THIS upset we would have dismantled Thomas and tried to do this a bit more conspicuously!!! For over three hours he was SO emotional and upset. Jonathan tried everything...ride to see the library trucks, the construction trucks, a ride in the car-cart at the grocery store...poor kiddo! He was doing ok until he saw another garbage truck and he needed to see if Thomas was in there! :( He still will talk about how George has Thomas but I think the wound has slowly started to heal! I guess we'll always have that warm sunny Saturday in the park with Thomas!!
